If that sounds like an organization you want to be a part of, we would love to have you.**Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 11:00 am-8:00 pm./Thurs & Friday from 8:00 am-5:00pm.ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSEThe Lead Medical Assistant will support various providers, advanced providers, and registered nurses to provide excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will work with clinical supervisors and nurses to provide training to new and less experienced medical assistants (MA). Additionally, it communicates with patients and performs clinical services to ensure high quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIESDirect Patient Care:Impacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracyResponds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employeesMaintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the publicProvider and Team Support:Works with registered nurses to train and mentor new medical assistants in the back-office area to ensure all tasks on the training checklist are completeShares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teamsOperates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholdersContributes to the success of the organization by participating in quality improvement activitiesCooperates in accomplishing department goals and objectivesClinical Administration:Monitors patient flow in the back office and cross covering, as neededAdjusts daily assignments and schedules to provide sufficient MA coverage during all patient contact times, including lunch breaksMonitors the daily assignment for completing tasks, such as recording of daily temperatures of refrigerators/freezers, stocking exam rooms, empty biohazardous waste, and other related tasksMaintains sufficient supplies to perform tasks in the back-office area.Reports equipment failures and responds appropriately to correct the problemProvides input into the evaluations of the medical assistants working in the back officeLeads back-office meetings and attends other required meetingsFunctions at highest level according to credentials and competencyEDUCATION/EXPERIENCEHigh school/GED requiredValid medical assistant certificate from an accredited program requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines- may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards. Two years medical assistant experience requiredLead or supervisory experience preferred ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formFamiliarity with medical procedures and terminologyProficiency with electronic health records system experience preferredIntermediate computer and data entry skillsMust use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providersFlexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlinesUse emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient careExemplify compassion to patients and team membersBilingual English/Spanish, English/Farsi, or English/Arabic preferred - must be able to pass Language Proficiency Test if bilingual skills are neededAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift/carry 20 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of time COMPLIANCE (Safety & HIPPA) Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditions immediately Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices Follows all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions Uses appropriate body mechanics to ensure an injury free environment Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes Complies with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawfulNeighborhood Healthcare offers a generous benefit plan that includes: Partially company paid Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
