Position Summary: The School Age Teacher provides a comfortable and safe learning environment for students, provides before and after school activities and participates in summer camp.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures that guidelines are followed in compliance with agency policy and state licensing requirements.
- Maintains all Step Up to Quality Documentation and Standards.
- Assists with planning and scheduling activities.
- Provides direct service.
- Recruits participants and volunteers for program and activities.
- Facilitates referrals to resources.
- Ensures that parents and program are working cooperatively for healthy growth of children.
- Plans, prepares and maintains program materials and supplies.
- Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding expenditures.
- Maintain accurate files and records and provides required reports and statistical data.
- Maintains clean, safe and secure Child Care Center, playground and play equipment.
- Participates in required annual Child Care and Step Up to Quality training.
Additional Job Functions:
- Transports children to and from school and field trips.
- Works together in a team atmosphere.
- Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Education and Training:
- Must be 18 years of age with a minimum of 3 years driving experience.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in ECE required, Bachelors in Education or related field is required.
- Experience working within the School Systems or Childcare setting preferred.
- Strong problem solving and group work leadership skills.
- Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Access to a vehicle, must have and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License
- Warm and friendly personality and willingness to interact with others.
Physical Demands: In order to perform the essential functions of this position successfully the employee may be required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. This position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written or oral instructions and agency procedures. All functions must be able to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
Typical Working Conditions: This position operates in a childcare/school type environment. The employee may be frequently exposed to loud noise and communicable diseases.
