Technical Designer

Role Summary

Neighbor Interiors is looking for a Technical Designer to produce the technical documentation for our custom home builds and large-scale renovations. AutoCAD elevations, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and millwork details.

As a member of the design team, the role includes regular time at job sites and with clients. You'll walk drawings with builders, answer questions about how details get executed, and check field conditions against what was documented.

You'll work under the creative direction of our Principal Designer. If you love the bones of a house, care deeply about precision, and want to see your drawings translated into finished homes built at the highest level, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

• Produce detailed interior CAD elevations, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and millwork drawings for ground-up custom homes and large-scale renovations.
• Hold accuracy in dimensioning, annotation, material callouts, and construction notes across every drawing set.
• Own the revision process. Take in feedback, make the changes, and confirm the architect, builder, and design team are all working from the same set.
• Act as our technical point of contact with architects and builders on drawing questions and coordination.
• Communicate directly with clients when a revision needs approval or a technical question needs an answer.
• Visit job sites to check field conditions against the drawings and talk through execution with the builder.
• Compile and organize technical deliverables for our design books.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited interior design or architecture program.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years producing technical interior drawings for luxury residential projects. Custom home experience required. Conceptual or commercial-only portfolios will not be reviewed.
• Software: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. Familiarity with Studio Designer and proficiency in 3D rendering preferred.
• Skills: A trained eye for proportion, scale, and material relationships in high-end residential spaces.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication. You'll be on the phone, in meetings, and on job sites with architects and builders regularly, and your ability to represent our technical standards with clarity, warmth, and professionalism matters.
• Team Fit: You thrive working under a Principal Designer's creative direction while taking full ownership of your technical output. You're self-directed, detail-oriented, and energized by seeing your drawings built.
• Work Ethic: Dependable, proactive, and able to manage multiple active projects without sacrificing quality or client experience.

Schedule and Location

Based in our Southlake studio, with work from home on Fridays. Regular travel to job sites across DFW is part of the role, so a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license are required.
