Senior Physical Designer

Senior Level

About the Position

As a Senior Physical Designer in the Renewables group, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with our engineering teams. Physical Designers are responsible for drafting and modeling in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.

Salary Range: $40.00 - $52.00 / hour

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, Colorado) and full-time remote candidates in the state of Colorado.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed design of substations and conventional generation, as needed
  • Read and understand basic electrical drawings including one-lines and three-lines
  • Produces full design packages including general arrangements, elevations, bill of materials, structure loading diagrams or structure design and fabrication details, and foundation and construction details
  • Selects equipment/hardware for appropriate applications
  • Works effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal oversight
  • Reviews submittals for conformance with specifications and design
  • Checks the work of other designers and drafters for general quality and accuracy as required
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards within the overall organization
  • Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, and classes as appropriate for professional advancement and to maintain quality of work
  • Attends safety training and follows safety rules and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Must Have

  • Education: Associates degree in related field preferred
  • Experience: 5 years of drafting, design, engineering, or related experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite required
  • A strong command of the English language
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Nice to Have   

  • Proficiency with and/or knowledge of 3D modeling software Inventor, Substation Design Suite, and Revit
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D would be a plus
  • Proficiency with MicroStation would be a plus

Working Conditions

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting and some field work is also required

Travel:

Minimal: 0 – 10%

Managerial Responsibility:

Must be able to lift 25lbs.

Team Member is responsible for managing their own work schedule with input from their supervisor and completing assigned tasks.

Team Member should identify discrepancies in assigned work and bring to attention of supervisor or engineer responsible for the project in a timely manner.  Team Member’s work product should be self-checked in a manner that is suitable for review by the supervisor or engineer responsible for the project.
