Position Purpose
The Estimator position operates computer software to read project plans and assemble an
accurate estimate for a project.
Essential Functions
- Reading and interpreting architectural, engineering, and mechanical drawings (blueprints).
- Primary duties include design, layout, and accessories documents.
- Operate computer-aided drafting equipment (AutoCAD) to produce layout, truss profiles, charts, forms and records.
- Operate MiTek Design program to design roof and floor trusses ensuring designs are accurate and conforms to standards.
- Operate Microsoft Office and PDF creator software (i.e. Adobe) to produce a bid cover, design criteria, and exceptions documents.
- Operate MiTek AIM program (Job Database) to input truss files, accessories, and fees.
Qualifications Preferred
Knowledge
- Reading and interpreting construction documents required.PC literate with beginner level in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and ability to learn various internet sites that facilitate learning in-house programs with ease.
- Solid grasp on math skills including, but not limited to architectural units (feet, inches, sixteenths), fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry.
Interpersonal
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, simultaneous estimates, along with various deadlines.
- A proactive and open-minded approach to resolving problems and delivering results.
- Ability to maintain professional, team oriented, long-term customer and business relationships with customers and all internal team members. iv. Ability to work effectively across all levels of management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
