Job Description
Neffs UCC Preschool is seeking a warm, dependable Assistant Preschool Teacher for our young 3-year-old classroom.
Please read the schedule carefully before applying: This is a small, part-time, school-year position working:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 AM–12:00 PM
- Fridays, 12:00–2:00 PM for paid planning and collaboration
- Approximately 9 hours per week
- September through May
The position pays $15 per hour and is not expected to become full-time. This schedule may be especially well suited to a college student with compatible classes, retired educator, former teacher returning gradually to the classroom, or parent seeking limited school-day hours.

Position Overview
The assistant teacher will work closely with the lead teacher, actively engage with children, support classroom routines and positive behavior, and help create a safe, welcoming first-school experience.
What You’ll Do
- Work alongside the lead teacher to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom
- Interact actively with children during play, activities, snack, and daily routines
- Help children build independence and develop social-emotional skills
- Support positive classroom behavior using patient and consistent guidance
- Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, materials, bathroom routines, and transitions
- Supervise children carefully and help maintain a safe classroom environment
- Communicate warmly and professionally with children, families, and coworkers
- Participate in occasional preschool events outside regular classroom hours
What We’re Looking For
- Experience caring for or working with young children
- A warm, patient, and encouraging approach
- Dependability and the ability to maintain a consistent schedule
- Willingness to participate actively in the classroom—not simply observe
- Ability to follow the lead teacher’s direction while also taking initiative
- Ability to obtain all required Pennsylvania clearances
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Coursework or experience in early childhood education is helpful but not required

Schedule & Pay

- Occasional evening, weekend, and summer preschool events may be requested with advance notice
