Role Description This is a hybrid contract role for a Bioinformatics Analyst based in Vienna, VA. The Bioinformatics Analyst will process and analyze large-scale biological and sequencing datasets, applying statistical and computational methods to generate high-quality, reproducible results. The role includes designing and running bioinformatics pipelines, performing data QC, integrating multi-omics datasets, and interpreting findings in collaboration with scientific and clinical stakeholders. The analyst will document methods, maintain code and workflows in version control systems, and contribute to reports, presentations, and publications. Day-to-day work will involve close coordination with cross-functional project teams to refine requirements, troubleshoot data issues, and support the delivery of secure, scalable solutions for life science and healthcare applications.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in bioinformatics and related domains, including Bioinformatics and Research, with experience applying computational methods to biological questions.
- Proficiency in quantitative and analytical methods, including Statistics and Data Analysis, for large-scale biological or clinical datasets.
- Hands-on experience with Sequencing data (e.g., NGS, RNA-seq, WES/WGS), including data preprocessing, alignment, and variant or expression analysis.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics (such as Python, R, or similar), and familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments.
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools, databases, and pipelines (e.g., BLAST, GATK, SAMtools, Bioconductor) and version control (e.g., Git).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
