Workday Payroll Consultant
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Consultant to support the design, configuration, implementation, and optimization of Workday Payroll solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Workday Payroll, payroll operations, compliance, integrations, reporting, and post-production support. This role requires close collaboration with HR, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to ensure efficient payroll processes and successful Workday Payroll delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support Workday Payroll implementation, enhancement, and support projects.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into Workday Payroll configurations and solutions.
- Configure and maintain Workday Payroll components, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, pay groups, pay periods, and payroll calculations.
- Support end-to-end payroll processing, validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution.
- Configure and maintain payroll integrations with third-party systems, banks, tax authorities, benefits providers, and time tracking systems.
- Develop and maintain payroll-related reports, dashboards, calculated fields, and analytics.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, payroll parallel testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Troubleshoot payroll processing issues, data discrepancies, and system defects.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with company policies, labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, Compensation, and IT teams to support payroll operations.
- Support Workday releases, feature adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide end-user training, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in data conversion, payroll migration, and cutover activities during implementation.
- Work with Workday support tickets, incident management, and production support activities.
- Assist in audit preparation and payroll compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3 years of experience in Workday Payroll implementation or support.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration and payroll processing.
- Strong understanding of payroll concepts, taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and statutory compliance.
- Experience with Workday integrations, including EIB, Core Connectors, Studio, and Workday APIs.
- Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, and dashboards.
- Knowledge of payroll testing, reconciliation, and defect management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Payroll certification preferred.
- Experience with Workday HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, and Financials.
- Knowledge of payroll processes across multiple countries or regions.
- Experience with implementation methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
- Prior consulting experience in payroll transformation or HRIS projects.
- Familiarity with data migration, security roles, and business process frameworks.
- Exposure to tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Excel, SQL, or reporting tools.
