Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Service Advisor to join our automotive service team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, coordinating vehicle repairs and maintenance with our skilled technicians. This role requires excellent communication skills, automotive knowledge, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Experience in dealership settings, auto service management, and automotive diagnostics is highly valued. The Service Advisor will ensure smooth operations by accurately assessing customer needs, providing detailed estimates, and recommending appropriate services to maintain vehicle safety and performance.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen carefully to their vehicle concerns
- Write detailed service orders and estimates using automotive service writing tools
- Communicate effectively with technicians regarding repair procedures and timelines
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, transmissions, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repairs when appropriate
- Manage customer inquiries about vehicle maintenance schedules and repair status
- Handle cash transactions accurately and process payments efficiently
- Maintain thorough documentation of all services performed and parts used
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and build loyalty
- Stay informed about the latest automotive repair techniques and industry standards
Experience
- Prior dealership experience or auto service management background preferred
- Hands-on mechanic experience or automotive diagnostics expertise highly desirable
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures including oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension work, brake repairs, transmissions, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repairs
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and service writing systems
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to upsell services tactfully
- Experience in auto sales or automobile sales is a plus
- Mechanical knowledge combined with excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers
