Criminal Legal Assistant
Position Overview
At Needham Glenn Law our legal assistant team is the primary point of contact between clients and the attorneys. We employ one legal assistant and one office manager that also maintains a role as a legal assistant in our Long Beach, Washington office. This position would require a person be present on-site for this job.
This position provides critical administrative and legal support to our attorneys, helping ensure cases, client matters, and court deadlines are handled efficiently, while also helping to provide critical communication to both the attorneys and the clients. This role involves managing client communication, preparing legal documents, organizing and setting up case files, and supporting the litigation process from intake through trial.

The following responsibilities help summarize the qualifications and skills needed for persons interested in this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Answer phones and greets visitors, gives general information, takes messages, and schedules appointments.
· Operates all general office equipment and serves as the primary office position expected to be on-site during main office hours to assist the public in providing detailed information about services, assisting in resolving public inquiries, or answering general questions.
· Establishes and maintains filing and record keeping systems.
· Utilizes software to generate memos, letters or other documents, ensuring accuracy, proper formatting, and proofreading.
· Performs routine data entry.
· Handles incoming and outgoing mail.
· May perform errands such as picking up and delivering legal documents and filings or office supplies primarily over the lunch break.
· Computes and processes client payments in accordance with office procedures.
· Sets up and maintains client based files, gathers and inputs data relevant to those files, retrieves information, and generates updates to those files
· Manage client intake and schedule consultations and appointments.
· Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
· Reviews and improves office work processes and recommends changes as needed.
· Draft legal documents and court pleadings from templates with a high degree of accuracy for review by attorneys for use in court.
· Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including compiling evidence and coordinating discovery, scheduling witness interviews, coordinating the flow of information and appointments with investigators and experts.
· Communicate with court staff to confirm court dates, schedule hearings, and process related notices.
· Serve as a notary when required.
· Be cross-trained in intakes across additional areas within the firm’s practice areas such as personal injury, estate planning, and probates
· Assume primary office duties when staff is on leave
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Two ore more years of experience in an office environment with general office support responsibilities, including experience providing information and assistance to members of the public

Certificates, Licenses and Professional Requirements
· Must possess a valid State of Washington driver’s license.
· Must agree to a background check.
· Must be willing to obtain and serve as a Notary Public.
· Open to ongoing training for evolving regulations, legal or bookkeeping practices, and other job-related skills.

Work Environment
Work is generally performed indoors in an office environment, but may include travel to a variety of locations throughout the County on an as-needed basis. In some instances employees may be required to deliver items and travel to meetings. Office tasks require significant periods of spent working at a personnel computer.
Salary and Benefits
· This is a part time/hourly paid position requiring at least 3 days per work week
· Salary range is DOE
