Neck of the Woods is seeking a compassionate, patient, and energetic One-on-One Support Teacher to provide individualized support to a young child throughout the school day.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children with sensory needs, impulsivity, big emotions, and challenging behaviors and will be comfortable maintaining safety while building a strong, trusting relationship with the child.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent one-on-one support throughout the school day.
- Support regulation, transitions, communication, and safe peer interactions.
- Recognize signs of dysregulation and provide proactive sensory and movement breaks.
- Support safe participation in classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Respond calmly and consistently to unsafe behaviors such as hitting, biting, kicking, or throwing.
- Help the child develop positive coping, communication, and self-regulation skills.
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, administration, family, and outside support professionals.
- Document observations and help implement individualized support strategies.
- Promote independence and inclusion rather than separating the child from the classroom community.

Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children required.
- Experience with behavioral, sensory, developmental, or communication needs preferred.
- Early childhood education experience or coursework preferred.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
