What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Clinician position at Necco?

Position Summary: 

Necco has an opportunity for a career as a Lead Clinician. This is an exciting position here, no one day is the same! This role will work closely with leadership and direct line staff to ensure services provided are evidence-based and best in class. The Lead Clinician will support direct line staff in meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) while maintaining high-quality service delivery and positioning Necco as a provider of choice in the communities we serve.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:  

 

Clinical Leadership and Training  

  • Serve as a mentor and role model for clinical staff, fostering professional growth and development
  • Maintain a client caseload while supporting team members in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care
  • Train and assist with onboarding new hires, ensuring they understand and apply clinical best practices
  • Oversee new hire shadowing experiences, guiding clinicians through daily workflows
  • Provide training on completing intakes, CANS assessments, and treatment plans
  • Conduct clinical documentation reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Lead monthly group supervision in each school building and facilitate observation sessions

 

Service Quality and Performance Management

  • Ensure services align with evidence-based practices and industry standards
  • Coach team members on clinical documentation, treatment planning, and crisis intervention strategies
  • Support team members in achieving KPIs and maintaining high clinical outcomes
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and provide feedback to the Program Director
  • Assist in filling staffing gaps due to vacancies, leave, or time-off requests
  • Facilitate quarterly team feedback surveys to assess morale and training needs

 

 Billing and Productivity Expectations

  • Maintain a billing expectation of 37.5% to ensure financial sustainability
  • Support direct line staff in understanding and meeting billing expectations
  • Review and provide feedback on documentation to ensure compliance with billing requirements
  • Educate team members on the connection between quality care, documentation, and financial impact
  •  Assist in troubleshooting billing challenges and ensuring timely claim submissions

 

Program Development & Employee Engagement

  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment
  • Organize team-building activities and professional development opportunities
  • Promote self-care strategies to enhance staff well-being and effectiveness
  • Lead scheduling and activity planning for school breaks and team retreats
  • Educate staff on the intersection of quality care and social impact
  • Serve as a liaison between clinicians and school employees, clarifying roles and responsibilities
  • Educate staff on crisis management, including Columbia assessments and safety planning

Position Qualifications

  • West Virginia: Bachelor's degree in a human service field or a master’s degree eligible for professional licensure (LSW—with contingency of obtaining LGSW, LCSW, LICSW, or LPCC, LPC).
  • Kentucky: Advanced degree in a human services discipline with experience in mental health treatment of children and families. Must hold a valid Mental Health Practitioner’s License (LPCA, LPCC, CSW, LCSW, LPA, LMFT, or other board-approved licensure capable of providing clinical services).
  • Ohio: Master’s degree in a human services discipline with at least five (5) years of experience in mental health treatment, including three (3) years focused on children and families. Must hold a valid Ohio Mental Health Practitioner’s License (BSW, LSW, LPCC, or LISW).
  • Valid driver’s license and required insurance coverage.
  • Willingness to travel for training and program needs.
  • Successful completion of all required criminal background checks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database systems, Electronic Health Records, and performance dashboards.
  • Must possess the skills to navigate and execute software programs (i.e Microsoft Office, Database, Electronic Health Record, Dashboard)
