What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Revenue Cycle Specialist position at Nebraska Urology?
Nebraska Urology is looking for a Medical Revenue Cycle Specialist to gathers claim information, enters supporting information into medical record system and completes the billing process by processing insurance and patient payments. Answer patient insurance and billing questions and arrange appropriate payments. Process and analyze insurance and patient payments.
Previous medical billing experience is preferred.
Other duties include:
- Answer and screen billing phone calls. Assist with billing questions from patients, office staff and physicians. Provide assistance in understanding insurance explanation of benefits, insurance policies, and out of pocket expenses. Document all insurance and patient conversations when needed.
- Process and post patient and insurance payments (cash, check, and credit card) for Nebraska Urology and Urology Surgical Center. Ensure all accounts balance. Record and analyze all reconciled information.
- Upload/scan all appropriate billing correspondence, Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) medical billing record requests and itemized financial statements.
- Utilize and navigate various websites and portals to download remittance advices, medical claim documents and records. Interpret benefits and eligibility as needed.
- Make transfers and corrections to patient accounts. Reinstate balances when appropriate. Review credit balances and process insurance and patient refunds.
- Research insurance claim denials. Understand remark and denial codes as it pertains to claims. Follow-up with insurance companies online or by phone when needed to resolve payment or claim issues, including appeals and reconsiderations.
- Responsible for examining documents for accuracy and completeness (i.e. proper date of service, procedure, cost and fee schedules.) Understand when to bill patients and when to appeal with insurance to finalize payment and compete the entire claim processing cycle.
