Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Administrative Assistant I located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes Deceumber 17, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.


Position Summary

This position will support the Maintenance department, providing a wide variety of administrative support, general business unit processes, and routine and special projects/processes of an administrative or analytical nature.

For positions located at Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS), individuals must live within 45 minutes of CNS and may be assigned Emergency Response Organization responsibilities.

Education, Training and Experience

Associate's degree and three years of related experience.

OR

Completion of a one- or two-year post high school secretarial certification program and four years of related experience.

OR

High school diploma/GED and seven years of related experience.

Prior Related Experience

Secretarial, clerical, or administrative experience is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provides a wide variety of administrative support, general business unit processes and routine and special projects/processes of an administrative or analytical nature. Act independently to establish, maintain, or adjust executive’s or manager’s schedules/arrangements, and resolve issues within defined area of responsibility. Maintain an awareness of issues and schedules; anticipate needs and/or required actions; update, track, follow-up, and/or expedite as appropriate.

Process, screen, and prioritize correspondence, calls, and general information ensuring the most effective use of executive's or manager's time. Routinely deal with and protect confidential information and act appropriately. Respond independently within defined area of authority. Direct requests for information to others, as appropriate.

Perform administrative assistant functions including calendar management, preparing, and verifying procurement card statement expenditures, typing, copying, filing, answering routine and specific questions when received, screening and directing telephone calls. Serves as liaison for internal and external customers ensuring customer needs are fully understood and resolved.

Provide administrative support to the executives and managers, as well as the entire organizational unit (direct reports under each executive or manager).

Must have a high attention to detail, be a team player, and be flexible due to wide range of tasks, challenges, and responsibility of assignments. Multi-task daily to assist other executives, managers, supervisors, or assistants as requested.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 8 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $4,062.00 - $4,976.00

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

In addition to the base salary listed in posting, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
