- Assist in directing the daily workflow of Phlebotomy and Client Support Services
- Maintain appropriate staffing by developing and assigning work schedules as applicable
- Posts hours to be filled in conjunction with Service Leader/Manager
- Participates in interviews and hiring of new staff members in conjunction with Service Leader/Manager
- Responsible for staff employee relations including disciplinary action and terminations
- Maintain positive work environment

- Encourages teamwork
- Provides rewards and recognition to promote staff acknowledgement
- Conducts staff meetings/team huddles to exchange and share information, problem solve issues and recognize achievements and areas of needed improvement.
- Adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
- Creates, updates, and revises policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accrediting agencies.
- Responsible for participation in the completion of probationary/annual performance evaluations for all staff members
- Direct observation of staff performance at regular intervals
- Address areas of concern on an individual basis and at staff meetings
- Collaborate with providers and other disciplines as appropriate
- Report issues/trends to Service Leader/Manager
- Participates in, or ensures preparedness for, CAP-Accreditation Program and other regulatory inspections both onsite and offsite
- Assist Service Leader/Manager in establishing and operating within annual area budget
- Identifies supply and equipment utilization problems and ensures appropriate interventions
- Accurately perform, evaluate appropriateness, and analyze quality of preparations and/or procedures requested on patient specimens.

Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), or Medical Technology (MT); or
- Bachelor of Science or Healthcare Degree with a Certificate from ASCP or equivalent in Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS), Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (HT/HTL), Cytotechnologist (CT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Phlebotomy Technician (PBT)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in health care laboratory environment required.
- Leadership experience preferred
- Registered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent in Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS), Histotechnician/Histotechnologist (HT/HTL), Cytotechnologist (CT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) required.
- Knowledge of laboratory processes, standards and regulations.
- Ability to supervise, train, mentor, discipline and evaluate staff.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks, problem-solve, prioritize and delegate work assignments
- Ability to effectively communicate with staff, applicants, all levels of hospital/health system/clinic staff and individuals external to the organization
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
