TITLE: Education Specialist

LOCATION: Home-based with frequent daytime travel serving western Nebraska. Must reside in western Nebraska. Preference given to candidates in Box Butte, Garden, Keith, Morrill, or Scotts Bluff counties.

REPORTS TO: Director of Education

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Education Specialist engages Nebraskans – primarily students – to understand the value of Nebraska agriculture through interactive lessons and hands-on activities.

FUNDAMENTAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teach agricultural literacy lessons in school settings through the Classroom Visit program.

2. Present at extended learning events such as Ag Festivals, After-School Programs, and Summer Camps.

3. Recruit Classroom Visit and Out-of-School participation and build lasting relationships with Nebraska teachers and extended learning program leaders.

4. Work collaboratively with the Director of Education to develop agricultural literacy lessons and resources that are age-appropriate, support classroom learning goals, and promote the National Agricultural Literacy Outcomes and Pillars of Agricultural Literacy.

5. Assist with the recruitment of teachers to participate in Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom programs including Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Champions, Ag Pen Pal, Agriculture Reading Hour, grants, awards, and curriculum.

6. Complete timely and accurate documentation of program activity, reflecting both numbers and stories, to assist with program funding proposals and reports.

7. Provide programming across assigned territory. Company vehicle provided. Approximately 80% daytime travel, with most evenings at home. Occasional overnight travel.

8. Other duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of Nebraska agriculture and the ability to deliver scripted agriculture lessons that are entertaining, engaging, and educational. A bachelor’s degree in agriculture or education and personal agriculture experience is required. Experience teaching youth in a formal or informal education setting and knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula is preferred.

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $45,000–$57,000, based on experience, education, and relevant qualifications.

Most candidates are expected to fall within the $45,000–$50,000 range. Placement within the range is determined by the depth of related experience, demonstrated skills, and overall fit for the role. Offers above this range are reserved for candidates bringing significant additional experience or specialized expertise.

This position includes a company vehicle for both work travel and limited personal use, adding to the overall value of the compensation package.
