Job Summary:
Position provides supervision to the Healthy Families America home visitation program staff. The
position supervises and provides accountability to home visitation staff, while encouraging
professional growth and development. Additionally, this position provides program services when
appropriate and when necessary.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise Healthy Families America program staff, including assisting with and assigning caseloads.
- Provide support to hosting events for enrolled families.
- Responsible for hiring, orientation and performance management according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Providing ongoing training and support through regular reflective supervision to all staff, which includes case review, performance evaluations and service plan reviews as required by Continuous Quality Improvement plans.
- Provide program management services that include quality management, community outreach to reach program capacity and meeting established program goals.
- Analyze program data and evaluations ensuring outcomes are being met.
- Ensure fidelity to the Healthy Families America home visitation model is met.
- Assist staff working with clients to find and utilize community resources to access additional help and support. Promote the use of a wide range of approaches based on individual service planning. Coach staff to create and implement individual service plans with each participant.
- Collaborate with other agencies and services including school personnel, and other health care providers to ensure appropriate support for participants.
- Host local CQI team for HFA program.
- Host local HFA Advisory Committee meetings

- Show flexibility with regard to work schedule (to be determined by supervisor); some evening, weekend, or on-call hours may be necessary.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Three - Five years of experience working with individuals and families required.
- Two-Three years of Supervisory experience required
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience working with families, safety services, and home-based services
- Required knowledge and skills in: needs of neglected, abused and exploited children, family functioning, child development, child welfare issues, and services and the function and processes of advocating for families and children with the child welfare system
- Strong direct service professional skills including:
- Commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems.
- Belief in a nurturing family as the ideal environment for a person and that people have the capacity to grow and change.
- Ability to develop respectful relationships with people served to help them gain skills and confidence.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and other professionals.
- Ability to maintain a helping role, intervene appropriately to meet service goals, and set appropriate boundaries.
- Skills in working with participants who may be resistant to services.
- Ability to make independent decisions and act accordingly, or with minimal support from the supervisor. Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions in crisis situations.
- Ability to analyze and make recommendations regarding individual cases and individual staff issues, and (frequently simultaneously) to analyze and apply larger, systemic issues.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Own transportation and insurance that meets agency requirements.
- Have no more than three points assessed against their Nebraska driver’s license or meet a comparable standard in the state in which they are licensed to drive.
- Ability to interact with families and staff with humility, sensitivity, and responsiveness to diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds in the service population.
- Ability to be accepting of individual differences.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret forms, documents, evaluations, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to respond to inquiries and possible complaints from participants and other providers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
- Ability to allow for adjustments from week to week in the number of hours worked by practitioners.
- Willing to engage in building reflective capacity, and experience with reflective practice preferred.
- Physical Demand:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and talk or hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work extensively with participants.
- Corrected hearing and vision within normal limits.
- Ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Schedule Demands (travel, adjustments to accommodate clients, weekends/evenings, etc.):
- May be required to work on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Attend appropriate community collaborative meetings that complement the mission and vision of NCHS and expand partnerships and services.
- Site Factors (environment, travel, etc.):
- Majority of work is combination of office and a home-based environment. Additional work may be performed in a variety of settings to meet department needs.
- Local and regional travel may be required.

Wage: $55,000-$60,000/year
