Nebo Fitness Trainer – $21.00 per hour. Hours and shifts will vary. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Purpose

The job of Nebo Fitness Center Trainer is done for the purpose/s of monitoring people, equipment and facilities related to the Nebo Fitness Center and providing on-site training guidance as needed.

This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: This is a supervisory position related specifically to the Nebo Fitness Center. The person in this position is responsible to keep the facility in working order while working with approved district employees and their immediate family members.

This job reports to Coordinator - Human Resources.

Experience:          Job related experience is desired.

Required to work at least three days per week and some Saturdays

Essential Functions

•   Assisting patrons with workouts as requested and appropriate for the purpose of advising patrons regarding the best workout practices for their situation.
•   Checking in and out equipment for the purpose of tracking inventory and advising the ordering of new inventory.
•   Cleaning the equipment regularly for the purpose of maintaining a safe workout environment free of the spread of disease.
•   Ensuring fitness center equipment is properly used for the purpose of maintaining a safe workout environment.
•   Ensuring fitness center policies are adhered to by patrons for the purpose of protecting against abuse of the equipment.
•   Helping patrons meet physical fitness goals, create workout plans, monitor progress, provide instruction on proper exercise techniques, provide

instruction on the proper use of facility equipment, provide encouragement for patrons to meet physical fitness goals for the purpose of improving

overall employee health and well-being.

•   Monitoring the fitness center facility for the purpose of maintaining a secure and safe workout environment.
•   Monitoring fitness center patrons for the purpose of ensuring proper care of equipment and facilities.
•   Occasionally lifting heavy weights for the purpose of cleaning or rearranging workout areas for the most efficient use of space.
•   Opening and closing the facility for the purpose of allowing district employees to participate in healthy activities with no cost.
•   Reporting damage to the equipment or to the facility to the immediate supervisor for the purpose of notifying repair personnel of corrections to be made.
•   Willing to comply with all District policies and procedures for the purpose of safeguarding patrons from risk of injury.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

• SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks using existing skills. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: tracking patron use, communication skills to meet the needs of facility patrons; at least 18 years old.
• KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read and follow instructions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Basic understanding of fitness machinery, a degree or certification in personal training or its equivalent are preferred but not required; minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent;.
• ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with others; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: availability to open and close the facility; applicants' physical health must be such as to meet the demands of the job; being pleasant to others in the early morning hours of the day.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
