What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at neat.bar?
About neat.bar
neat.bar exists to prove that a bar can be refined without feeling cold, and serious without taking itself too seriously. We care deeply about timing, cleanliness, knowledge, and execution, but none of it outranks hospitality. A well-made cocktail is not our finish line; it is simply one part of making a guest feel welcome, cared for, and glad they chose to spend their time with us.
We want our room to feel thoughtful, grounded, and lived-in. Elevated, yes, but never stiff. Polished without losing its soul. If you are looking for a stage to perform at guests or chase the image of a "mixologist," this is not the right room for you. If you are a dedicated professional who takes pride in technical accuracy, values an immaculate station, and operates with a team-first mindset where no one is above restocking, running drinks, or resetting glassware, we want to talk to you.
The Role
We operate a smaller, intimate room where adaptability is part of our product. Our front-of-house team is entirely cross-trained. You will work directly alongside your teammates to manage the room and ensure guests receive the same exceptional level of care whether they are seated at the bar, on the floor, or interacting at the door.
Depending on the night, your focus will rotate to include:
- Bar service: Building drinks with meticulous technical precision, executing classic and house specifications cleanly, and maintaining strict station readiness under pressure. This is not about flair or showmanship; it is about absolute jigger accuracy, clean workspace habits, and guiding guests through our menu by prioritizing flavor descriptions over technical lectures. You will balance direct interaction with the guests in front of you while keeping a sharp eye on overall room awareness.
- Floor lead / guest coordinator: Acting as the primary coordinator of the guest experience. You will greet and orient newcomers in a timely manner, manage the seating flow, and actively carry the warm, grounded tone of the house. This is a high-level hospitality role, not a passive serving position. You are responsible for reading the room's energy, delivering drinks with concise context, knowing when to offer engaging dialogue or quiet space, and seamlessly guiding the story of the guest's evening.
- Station readiness: Keeping the entire room immaculate, washing and resetting glassware, restocking wells, and stepping into whatever the shift needs most. We operate with a strict "team over ego" standard—no one is above cleaning, running rounds, or supporting a teammate when the room turns loud.
What We Look For
- Warmth over scripts: The ability to speak with sincerity, read a guest's energy, and prioritize hospitality above performance.
- A teachable mindset: A desire to learn a structured system, receive technical feedback without defensiveness, and master a craft without ego.
- Composure: The ability to stay calm, move with intention, and communicate honestly when the room turns loud.
Training & Development
We believe in setting our team up for success. You will receive structured, hands-on training covering our classic cocktail framework and house service standards, ensuring you feel completely supported and confident before working an independent shift.
