What are the responsibilities and job description for the Analyst, Liquid and Capital Markets position at Nearwater Capital?
The Opportunity
The Analyst, Liquid and Capital Markets will be a key member of Nearwater Capital's Origination & Structuring team, supporting the firm's growing Liquid and Capital Markets businesses.
This is a generalist analyst role with real ownership. You will have exposure to every stage of a financing transaction — from initial client pitch through documentation, negotiation, and handoff to the Trading team. You will work closely with internal teams including Legal, Trading, Operations, and Compliance, as well as client and counterparty teams, to help source, structure, and close transactions with G-SIBs and SIFIs.
This role suits someone who is intellectually curious about how financing markets work, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to build deep expertise in an area that sits at the cutting edge of institutional finance.
What You'll Do
Support transaction execution
- Support end-to-end execution of financing transactions, from structuring through close
- Build and maintain cash flow models for pricing and analyzing financing structures
- Review and mark up legal documentation including ISDAs, CSAs, MRAs, and MSLAs
- Coordinate across Legal, Trading, Operations, Compliance, Finance, and IT to advance transactions on tight timelines
Drive client and marketing support
- Prepare pitch books, term sheets, and marketing materials for client meetings
- Participate and brainstorm with the Origination team to support the origination and coverage process
- Develop a working knowledge of counterparty needs (Basel III capital ratios) and translate them into viable financing structures
Build process and infrastructure
- Identify and implement workflow improvements and automation opportunities across the origination lifecycle
- Help establish service standards and working relationships with Treasury, Finance Operations, and Risk Management
- Ensure consistent application of firm policy and adherence to regulatory and legal obligations
What We're Looking For
- Entry level candidates with a strong academic background and genuine interest in finance and capital markets
- Working knowledge or curiosity around financing instruments: repo, securities lending, TRS, and/or commercial paper
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel; proficient in PowerPoint
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational discipline
- Clear, confident communicator — written and verbal
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-moving environment where priorities shift quickly
- Exposure to bank regulatory frameworks (LCR, RWA, GSIB surcharge) is a plus but not required
How You Work
- Low ego, high ownership — you do what needs to get done
- Genuinely curious about markets and how institutions manage their balance sheets and scarce resources
- You take initiative and are resourceful when faced with ambiguity
- You communicate clearly and work well across teams
- You are eager to grow into a structuring and origination professional over time
What You'll Get
- Exposure to every stage of a financing transaction, from pitch to close, across some of the world's largest financial institutions
- The opportunity to collaborate closely with Trading, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Compliance, building a strong cross-functional foundation early in your career
- Real ownership and responsibility from day one in a small, high-impact team
- A fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment where you will learn something new every day
- Ample opportunity for professional growth and a steep career trajectory at a rapidly growing firm
