Director of Revenue Cycle – Critical Access Hospital
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Revenue Cycle to lead and revitalize our revenue cycle operations in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This role requires a proactive leader who excels in staff development, operational execution, and vendor coordination to address and resolve significant A/R and credit balance issues.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, deep knowledge of billing and collections workflows, and a passion for rolling up their sleeves to get things back on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train and retrain staff while fostering a positive and accountable team culture.
- Dive deep into accounts to identify and resolve root causes of delays and errors.
- Collaborate closely with 3rd-party billing and collections vendor, to improve performance and transparency.
- Analyze and correct denials, credit balances, and outstanding A/R issues.
- Address the aftermath of a challenging Meditech conversion that contributed to a significant increase in financial class balances.
- Reduce Accounts Receivable
- Resolve Credit Balances
- Work with hospital-based teams responsible for posting, scheduling, registration, and account corrections.
- Troubleshoot and identify process breakdowns.
- Ensure efficiency and accuracy in electronic remittance processing and cash posting.
- Must have Critical Access & Rural Health Experience
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management.
- Proven experience in a Critical Access Hospital environment.
- Strong background in electronic remits and cash posting.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Hands-on approach to solving revenue cycle issues.
- Experience collaborating with outsourced billing vendors.
- Meditech a must (particularly post-conversion challenges)
- Rural Health Clinic Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading A/R cleanup and denial management projects.
- Background in working with third-party vendors to resolve operational issues.
- Proven ability to implement and improve revenue cycle processes under tight deadlines.
