What You’ll Do
- Serve as a key liaison between our clinic and surgery center, ensuring seamless, personalized patient experiences.
- Support providers in pre- and post-operative care, including vitals, wound care, injections, and patient education.
- Deliver empathetic patient education and clear communication before and after procedures.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation in the EMR and ensure compliance with HIPAA and clinic protocols.
- Manage exam room preparation, supply ordering, and sterilization processes to maintain a safe, efficient environment.
- Contribute to a positive, team-focused culture through collaboration, communication, and accountability.
Essential Functions
Charting and Administrative Duties
- Ensure all related reports, labs, and documentation are completed and available in patients’ medical records prior to appointments.
- Safeguard patient information and maintain confidentiality at all times, adhering to HIPAA standards.
- Assist with administrative duties such as additional charting, filing, complete FMLA paperwork and supporting other Medical Assistants as needed.
Patient Care
- Warmly greet and escort patients to exam rooms, ensuring comfort and readiness for their appointments.
- Obtain and document patient history, reason for visit, and vital signs — including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature — with accuracy and professionalism.
- Record medical histories, vital statistics, and test results precisely within the EMR to ensure comprehensive documentation.
- Assist physicians and physician assistants during exams and in-office procedures, maintaining a sterile and supportive environment.
- Perform wound care, fluid drainage, suture removal, and dressing changes with care and precision.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, including performing blood draws (phlebotomy), and ensure proper labeling and handling for accurate diagnostic testing.
- Manage patient calls, triage concerns, and coordinate physician or pharmacy communications in a timely and compassionate manner.
- Administer medications and injections under provider direction in accordance with Oregon scope-of-practice guidelines.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality.
- Ensure all medical documentation is thorough, timely, and aligned with clinical and regulatory requirements.
Exam Room Preparation and Supply Maintenance
- Prepare and disinfect exam rooms before and after each patient visit.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant clinical environment.
- Keep exam rooms fully stocked and assist in maintaining medical instruments and sterilization.
- Properly dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and verify deliveries.
- Maintain logs and safety checks (refrigerator temps, medication expiration dates, oxygen, sterilization fluid, etc.).
- Maintain autoclave room operations and ensure proper instrument sterilization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Required.
- Minimum two years of clinical experience in a medical setting.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer literacy.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and patient-centered care.

- Experience in wound care or post-surgical care preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
