Our retrofits use State and Federal Historic Tax Credits and other programs to turn derelict buildings into vibrant, energy efficient sources of community pride. NGC is Southwest Missouri’s premier historic restoration company, working primarily on commercial and residential buildings in the Joplin Area. Extensive pending workload will ensure our new Carpenter has an immediate impact on company operations.
CARPENTER DUTIES:
Responsible for applying carpentry skills to accomplish company performed project elements. Will organize and lead small jobs with minimal supervision. Ideal candidate has strong trim and rough carpentry skills and an understanding of construction systems. Works well against deadlines, and can creatively solve problems. Maintains an organized and safe work environment. This position requires: creativity, problem solving, and project layout.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- Rough and trim carpentry skills in both wood and metal framing with the ability to hang doors, trim, and create trim solutions that are setting appropriate
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and written instructions
- Minimum 2 years general construction experience in both complex and simple tasks. Should have an eye for detail and a strong commitment to doing the job right.
- Hard-worker, eager, and motivated; willing to learn and to teach, and help set the pace for in house crews
- Willingness to do what the job takes: including demolition, clean-up, and painting or finishing.
- Strong organizational skills with the desire to collaborate with other staff members, and subcontractors
- Possess good verbal and some written communication skills.
