Job Title: Automotive Production Supervisor – Body in White
Location: Wentzville, Missouri
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Production Supervisor to lead operations within a high-volume Body in White (BIW) manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency targets are met, while fostering a positive and compliant union work environment. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience supervising union-represented employees and a solid understanding of employee relations, including grievance procedures and contract compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities within the Body in White department, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of hourly union employees in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and UAW (or applicable union) contract requirements
- Actively manage employee relations, including interpreting and applying the collective bargaining agreement (CBA)
- Handle employee grievances in accordance with established grievance procedures; investigate issues, document findings, and participate in resolution processes
- Partner with union representatives and HR to maintain a collaborative and respectful labor-management relationship
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including throughput, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency; implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Support lean manufacturing practices and drive process improvements to optimize production flow
- Ensure proper staffing levels, manage attendance, and administer discipline in accordance with company policy and union guidelines
- Facilitate shift meetings, communicate expectations, and provide clear direction to team members
- Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve production issues and improve processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3 years of supervisory experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in Body in White
- Proven experience supervising union employees and working within a collective bargaining environment
- Strong knowledge of employee grievance procedures and experience handling grievances through resolution
- Understanding of BIW processes such as welding, stamping, assembly, and structural body systems
- Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends as needed
- Proficiency with production systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a high-volume OEM automotive plant
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Prior experience partnering with UAW leadership and participating in labor negotiations or discussions

Salary : $68,500 - $88,100
