Role Summary: CAD Designer / Drafter (SolidWorks)
Primary Focus:
Creation and updating of engineering drawings from existing 3D models.

- Not a heavy modeling role — models already exist
- Strong emphasis on drawing production, updates, and accuracy
- Fast-paced, collaborative environment with shifting requirements
- Core Responsibilities
- Drawing & Design Work
- Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) per ANSI Y14.5
- Update drawings based on redlines and engineer feedback
- Ensure technical accuracy and completeness
- Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Engineers
- Senior designers
- Manufacturing teams
- Handle real-time (“on-the-fly”) drawing updates
⚙️ CAD & Engineering Tasks
- Use SolidWorks for:
- Parts & assemblies
- Sheet metal
- Weldments
- Routing
- Prepare layouts and detail drawings
- Occasionally perform:
- Simple design work
- Component selection (COTS)
Manufacturing Awareness
- Ensure designs are:
- Manufacturable
- Maintainable
- Easy to assemble
- Understand:
- CNC machining
- Sheet metal
- Welding fabrication
Required Qualifications
Experience & Education
- 7–10 years CAD/design experience
- Associate degree (or equivalent experience)
Technical Skills
- Advanced SolidWorks proficiency (required modules):
- Routing
- Sheet Metal
- Weldments
- PDM
- Knowledge of:
- ANSI Y14.5 (GD&T)
- Military drafting standards
Additional Requirements
- US Citizenship (mandatory)
- Ability to obtain security clearance
- Must submit sample drawings
