Labor Time Technician
Position Summary
We are seeking a Labor Time Technician to support validation and optimization of automotive service procedures. This role is hands-on and vehicle-focused, requiring the ability to disassemble and reassemble full vehicles while timing repair procedures and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
This position supports GM service manual validation by ensuring procedures are accurate, efficient, and executable as written.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-vehicle validation of service and repair procedures
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicles to execute full repair workflows
- Conduct time studies for removal and installation procedures
- Identify errors, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process optimization within service procedures
- Document validation results, time studies, and procedural findings
- Maintain accurate tracking of service manual procedures and validation status
- Communicate project updates, findings, and issues to leadership
- Support special assignments related to service procedure validation and improvement
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of automotive or related hands-on vehicle experience
- Minimum 2 ASE Certifications required
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to work across all vehicle systems
- Experience using tools, repair documentation, and service procedures
- Ability to follow structured processes and accurately document results
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a technical, hands-on environment
About the Work
This role is part of a business group responsible for validating GM service manuals and repair procedures. The technician ensures procedures are accurate, repeatable, and optimized by physically performing repairs, timing each step, and documenting findings. The goal is to improve service efficiency and ensure technicians in the field can successfully execute procedures as written.
Candidates should be comfortable working hands-on with full vehicle teardown and reassembly while tracking and improving labor times across a wide range of automotive systems.
