The ND Association of Counties is a professional, progressive non-profit organization representing our 53 county members across the state of North Dakota. We provide a vast array of programs and services to help our county members each and every day. We are currently seeking an accurate, experienced and thorough accountant to join our organization. In this role, you will demonstrate your expertise in a variety of accounting practices, including accounts payable, reconciling accounts, grant administration/monitoring and assisting with the annual audit. To succeed in this position, you will be highly accurate and efficiently adding value to the accounting team and upholding our organization's exceptional reputation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide fiscal oversight of 911 Fee Collection Program.
- Administer and monitor fiscal activity for Juvenile Justice grants.
- Provide financial support for all Member Association Management Agreements including budgeting, financial activity and preparing financial statements
- Prepare and process County Employer Group Program payments for Discount Program, Ergonomic Initiative and annual reconciliations of premiums
- Prepare, enter, post, and pay invoices/vouchers/credit card statements and process checks/ACH payments in the Accounts Payable system.
- Print, monitor, and reconcile Accounts Payable trial balance reports for parent company and its subsidiary.
- Maintain vendor and payment records in accounting system.
- Provide back up support for preparing deposits, fund requests and have cross sectional training in most areas of the accounting department.
- Responsible for equipment/depreciation schedules, tracking of equipment purchases and replacement schedules.
- Assist Controller with annual audit process.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in accounting or relevant financial field required
- Minimum 2-years experience in bookkeeping/financial record keeping or other accounting experience
- Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Proficient math skills and an analytical mind
- Familiarity with accounting software and financial statements
- Consistent, accurate, thorough, and detail-oriented
- Exceptional organizational skills and aptitude for numbers
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment
