The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Transportation Funding Analyst on the Transportation Funding team to provide technical and/or administrative support for programs and projects. The Transportation Funding team facilitates and manages the selection and implementation of transportation projects within the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The team monitors a portfolio of over $30 billion in projects. At NCTCOG, you will be part of an innovative and award-winning Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) that serves the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of the regional funding document for projects and programs
  • Maintaining database quality by entering data and ensuring data accuracy
  • Participating in the evaluation of project submittals for funding consideration
  • Assisting with the research of project histories and to provide initial and follow-up analyses to supervisor, team members and/or regional partners for project inquiries
  • Tracking project efforts to ensure the timely implementation of transportation projects
  • Drafting responses to inquiries received from elected officials, local governments, and the general public
  • Scheduling and attending regular/cyclical meetings, preparing agendas and handouts
  • Assisting in the administration of State, federal, and regional transportation funding programs
  • Supporting the development of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and Air Quality Conformity documentation
  • Drafting correspondence, documentation, and reports
  • Performing analysis of project listings
  • Preparing and delivering oral presentations

Required Skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication, including proofreading and editing skills
  • Strong critical-thinking skills
  • Good data-entry skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in analytical, quantitative methods (i.e., business or public administration, public policy, government/political science, urban/transportation planning, accounting, finance, geography, or related field
  • At least one year of work-related experience

Starting Salary Range

Minimum of $54,009.00 - $64,810.80 annually

Since 1974, NCTCOG has served as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is responsible for developing transportation plans and programs that address the complex needs of the rapidly growing area. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.  NCTCOG also serves as a designated recipient for Federal Transit Administration funds.
