Responsibilities
- Administer IV hydration therapy with precision, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and hydration needs analysis.
- Educate clients on the benefits of IV hydration, post-treatment care, and answer any questions to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation of treatments provided, including medication administration records and patient notes within EMR or EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Monitor patients during infusion sessions for adverse reactions or complications, ready to respond swiftly with appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers for treatment planning, especially when integrating with other services like pain management or critical care.
- Follow HIPAA regulations strictly to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all legal standards.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in good standing with current state licensure.
- Proven experience in IV infusion administration, including IV insertion and catheter care.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to infusion therapy.
- Experience working in diverse clinical settings such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation.
- Additional skills in areas such as critical care experience, long-term care (including nursing homes and assisted living), trauma center experience (Level I/II), or specialty fields like pain management, infectious disease care, or geriatrics are highly desirable.
