**3RD SHIFT POSITION: 9PM-6AM**
Job Purpose
The Quality Control (QC) Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in our products. This role involves conducting testing, analysis, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer or military specifications. The QC Technician plays a critical role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in industrial and military coatings
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of property testing, using ASTM, ISO, MIL-SPEC and other testing standards
- Spray, brush, roll, and drawdown paint samples
- Analyzing wet paint samples for a range of properties, including viscosity, flow, stability, dry, cure, spray, brush, roll, etc.
- Measure various visual properties, including color, gloss, surface quality, etc.
- Measure various mechanical properties, including impact, bending, adhesion, etc.
- Analyze incoming raw materials for purity and physical properties
- Utilize a wide range of analytical equipment, including GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, spectrophotometers, refractometers, microscopes, etc.
- Determine material additions/corrections to make to adjust paint batches into specification
- Coordinate and communicate with production staff to manage workflows and provide technical guidance
- Work to drive continuous improvement in the lab and production processes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with color measurement and theory is a plus
- Previous laboratory experience, working with ASTM, ISO, or similar standards is highly preferred
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software for data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- High school level math
- English fluency and above average communication skills
- Ability to manage a high-throughput environment with variations in daily demands
- Minimum of average rating on Munsell Color Acuity Test
