To succeed as the Director of Financial Aid, you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in higher education administration, finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in financial aid administration, student services, or higher education operations, with expertise in federal financial aid programs and Title IV compliance
- Demonstrated proficiency with financial aid systems, student information systems (SIS), and Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced analytical, organizational, and data reporting capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise diverse student populations; willingness to engage with external partners and travel as needed for training, conferences, or regulatory updates
Your responsibilities as the Director of Financial Aid will include:
- Lead financial aid administration, including application processing, award packaging, disbursement coordination, and reconciliation in alignment with federal student aid (Title IV) regulations and higher education compliance standards
- Develop and implement financial aid policies, procedures, internal controls, and systems to ensure audit readiness, accreditation compliance (COCA), and operational scalability in a medical education environment
- Provide financial aid counseling and financial literacy programming, including student loan advising, debt management, budgeting, and loan repayment strategies for medical students
- Collaborate with Student Affairs, Admissions, Registrar, Bursar, and Finance teams to align enrollment, eligibility, and institutional aid strategies while supporting student onboarding and retention initiatives
- Analyze financial aid data, reporting metrics, and student borrowing trends to drive continuous improvement, enhance service delivery, and inform institutional decision-making on affordability and student success
