Role Description The Commercial Electrical Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Venice, FL. This position is responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing project scope, pricing labor, materials, and equipment, and preparing bids and proposals in coordination with project managers and company leadership. The estimator will communicate with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams to clarify project requirements, obtain pricing, and ensure estimates align with company standards and client expectations. The role also involves tracking bid opportunities, maintaining estimating documentation, and supporting value engineering and budgeting efforts throughout the preconstruction process.
Qualifications
- Strong electrical estimating skills, including blueprint reading, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis for commercial and industrial projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software, accubid, bluebeam, microsoft office, spreadsheets, and general computer skills for bid preparation and documentation.
- Solid understanding of commercial electrical systems, codes, standards, and typical installation methods.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills for working with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Prior experience as an electrical estimator or in commercial electrical construction; field experience is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of Southwest Florida market conditions, materials, and labor rates is an advantage.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or relevant college coursework in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
