Essential Functions
The work environment for this position is an indoor office environment. The incumbent may sustain posture in a seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.
VA Onboarding Requirements
NCIRE is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), which requires all candidates to complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE's onboarding process. The SFVA is a federal agency that requires a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law. The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.
The base wage range for this position is $33.00 - $48.68 per hour. The wage actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.

Oversee health services research project support, and manage grant, institutional and financial activities for Dr. Kelly’s research focused on examining RSV vaccination risks and outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Help supervise all research group personnel and oversee the daily operations
- Coordinate and lead research efforts at the SFVAHCS site
- Coordinate the medical record abstraction of data
- Participate in weekly research meetings
- Recruits, hires, and trains (with the PI) research assistant(s) and other staff including contractors and/or consultants as necessary for the project
- Manage and coordinate research project activities ensuring objectives are met and documented in status reports.
- Assist supervisor with managing the routine, day-to-day activities, and administration of the project.
- Plan, develop, complete, and submit on time all required documentation/paperwork/forms for initial and continuing human subject’s review.
- Regularly review guidance, policies, and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for manuscript submissions, progress tracking and formulating response letters for revision to peer-reviewed journals and abstracts for scientific meetings for the PI, residents and fellows.
- Organize and maintain all study documents for management, data, record keeping and/or
- compliance purposes
- Prepare research grant and subcontract applications and renewals for NCIRE administration.
- Prepare research grant and subcontract applications and renewals for the VA
- Establish, implement and monitor budgets for new and ongoing grant research projects.
- Prepare financial reports including budget status reports, expense reports, and budget projections.
- Act as the primary contact person for financial activities including subcontracting personnel and coordinating ancillary studies activities.
- Act as primary liaison between UCSF, NCIRE, VA, and funding institutions in monitoring and resolving financial, data security, personnel training and other administrative issues.
- Manage CHR/IRB activities including preparation of new project applications for submission, and revisions/renewals of ongoing projects.
- Prepare and maintain annual progress reports for several funding institutions including NIH, and private foundations.
- BA/BS, Masters or higher in life science, social science, public health, or epidemiology.
- At least 1-3 years experience in research coordination and/or management
- Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
- Ability to write a budget and manage research study funds using basic accounting skills
- Strong organizational and oral and written communication skills
- Computer literacy with full working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Endnote, Adobe, and PubMed
- Ability to work independently
- Strong people skills and reliability
