NCI Affiliates is a dedicated local non-profit organization committed to empowering adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. With a strong focus on promoting independence and inclusion, NCI Affiliates provides vocational training, education, adaptive living skills programs, advocacy, and community living services. As a Community Based Instructor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals, develop life skills, and engage meaningfully with their community. We have a Part Time position open which offers a dynamic and creative work environment where you can make a positive impact every day- while enjoying the local community and teaching valuable life skills.
Schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3 pm.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate daily activities that promote community exploration and learning for program participants.
- Support adults with developmental disabilities in building socialization and adaptive life skills.
- Provide instruction and guidance based on each individual's person-centered goals and service plan.
- Coordinate, document, and review activity schedules for individuals served.
- Encourage and teach appropriate behaviors and adaptive skills in community settings.
- Offer support and counseling to maximize personal growth and skill development.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of participant progress and activities.
Compensation
$23.00 per hour expected start pay, depending on experience. A $250 sign-on bonus is available.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Valid California drivers license; driving is required.
- Proof of current state-required auto insurance.
- Basic computer and technology skills.
- Ability to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training (training provided onsite).
- Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Flexibility to assist at different program sites as needed.
- Bilingual skills are a plus, but not required.
- Physical ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, twist, walk, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
