Essential Responsibilities and Duties Program Leadership and Vision
- Provide strategic vision and leadership for the women’s lacrosse program consistent with Longwood University values.
- Establish a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture.
- Ensure full compliance with the NCAA, Big South Conference, and university policies.
- Represent the program within the department, conference, campus, and community. Coaching and Competitive Success
- Plan and conduct all practices, competitions, and training sessions.
- Develop offensive, defensive, and transition strategies.
- Prepare game plans, scouting reports, and film analysis.
- Manage game-day operations and travel. Recruiting and Roster Management
- Lead a comprehensive recruiting strategy aligned with intuitional and academic standards.
- Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes capable of Division 1 success.
- Maintain appropriate recruiting pipelines for the Big South mid-major institution.
- Manage roster composition, scholarships, and retention. Staff Supervision and Administration
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
- Manage program budget and administrative responsibilities.
- Promote staff professional development and collaboration. Academic and Student-Athlete Support
- Promote academic achievement and graduation success.
- Monitor academic progress in coordination with academic support staff.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes. External Relations and Advancement
- Assist with fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives.
- Participate in community outreach and promotional activities.
- Support marketing and media relations efforts.
- Bachelor’s degrees require; master’s degree preferred.
- Coaching experience at the NCAA Division 1 level; head coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated recruiting success.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Previous head coaching experience in collegiate lacrosse, preferably.
- Experience recruiting in the Big South region.
- Experience managing budget and full-time staff.
