Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a full-time on-site Athletic Trainer in our Athletics department. This position works with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, the athletic training staff, and team physicians to deliver a high level of athletic health care for division one intercollegiate athletes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Evaluation of acute and chronic athletic injuries
• Assist team physicians in athletic injuries.
• Maintain ATR and workspace cleanliness.
• Develop and implement injury prevention strategies.
• Practice and game medical coverage.
• Acute treatment of athletic injuries.
• Implement emergency action plans, as needed.
• Appropriately apply therapeutic modalities to student-athletes.
• Develop and execute injury-specific rehabilitation plans.
• Assist with supply inventory and ordering, as needed.
• File insurance claims for athletic injuries.
• Maintain detailed medical records of student-athletes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field from a CAATE accredited athletic training education program. *Applicants with a Spring 2026 graduation date will be considered. Any offer will be contingent upon graduation and certification*
• 0–1-year experience in sports medicine, physical therapy and/or athletic training.
• NATA-BOC certification and Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy degree.
• Must be able to carry and lift coolers of ice, water, and medical equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
• Must have weekend availability with frequent travel flexibility.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications
