Under the general supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, this position is responsible for assisting in the management and administration of all phases of the athletic training operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Athletic Training Services
- Provide athletic training services to sports as assigned; Services include prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and coverage of practices/contests as deemed necessary and assigned by the head athletic trainer.
- Maintain complete medical records for assigned teams, including insurance referrals, daily treatments, physician referrals, and injury reports in conformity with the Athletic Training Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain positive relationships with team physicians and medical specialists.
- Provide direct supervision of student athletic training staff, graduate and undergraduate.
- Assist with departmental needs as requested.
- Maintain working knowledge of advances in the field as well as current membership in the National Athletic Trainers Association, Inc. and the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association, Inc., State of Illinois Licensure.
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of NIU policies and procedures and conduct the unit within those regulations.
- When practical under the circumstances, intercollegiate athletic staff are encouraged to voluntarily attend all athletic events to promote audience participation and support for NIU team efforts.
- Promote public relations beneficial to the university, the athletic department and the profession.
- Work in cooperation with athletic department staff to access available resources concerning the following areas of athletic care: safe and protective athletic equipment and facilities, nutrition, recognition and education of substance abuse, personal and mental hygiene, first aid and CPR.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- N.A.T.A. Certification
- Eligible to meet Illinois Athletic Trainer Registration requirements.
- Athletic training experience in school or clinic setting.
- Experience as certified athletic trainer.
- Physical Demands: Standing, lifting, sitting, running, carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Master’s degree.
- Minimum 1 year Athletic training experience at the university, college, or clinic level.
- Experience with NCAA Division I athletes.
- Minimum 2 years work experience as a certified athletic trainer.
