Now hiring highly motivated, organized individuals to work as Clinical Ophthalmic Technicians for the largest Retina Practice in North Carolina! As a Clinical Technician, you will work directly with patients and physicians to provide care for patients.  You will also gather patient information, take images, notate patient charts, and set up for exams and treatment. 


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Triage patients and record accurate documentation of the patient’s medical history
  • Obtain a patient's chief complaint and screen (e.g. visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, measure IOP, pupillary check, ocular motility, dilate pupils, check blood pressure, etc.)
  • Communicate with team members, team leader, and physician about patient care
  • Works collaboratively in a clinical team environment to reduce patient and physician wait times
  • Communicate with patients using a caring tone and provide thorough communication before and after their visit with the physician, providing education as needed
  • Prep exam room and patient charts for physician
  • Perform macular OCT imaging. May perform additional retinal imaging, when needed. 
  • Prep for and assist with in-office procedures as needed
  • May support research patients as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal customer service skills, including effective listening, clear verbal and written communication, problem solving skills
  • Reliable transportation to travel to practice locations – not just 1 location.
  • Ability to master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data
  • Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology


Preferred Requirements


  • Previous experience in a busy optometry, ophthalmology, and/or retina clinic
  • COA, COT, or COMT certification
  • Bilingual – Spanish
