This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Necessary Special Qualifications May require North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License.

Key Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for work in the planting, cultivation, and care of shrubs, trees, plants, and grass in the yard and surrounding areas of state buildings and institutions. Work is performed in accordance with instructions from an administrative supervisor; however, this employee must determine the care and treatment necessary to maintain grounds and shrubs in good condition.
- Non-routine problems concerning the selection, placement, care, and treatment of plants to assure a beautiful and orderly landscape are referred to a supervisor or nursery dealer for advice.
- Work may include the supervision of a small number of employees. Work is inspected and evaluated on the basis of appearance of the grounds.
- Basic knowledge of the application of trade skills to the duties assigned.
- Skill in the use and care of equipment and tools used in performing work assignments.
- Ability to follow oral work assignments.
