Description Of Work

The Nursing Home Surveyor (Facility Compliance Consultant I) position involves regulatory activities to determine compliance of nursing homes with federal and state federal and state requirements through inspections.

Job Responsibilities Include

  • Surveying nursing homes during routine surveys and complaint investigations.
  • Completing survey reports, including statements of deficiency and complaint allegation findings.

Must pass the Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) after training.

This is a home-based position servicing Rowan, Cabarrus, Davidson, Mecklenburg, Stanly and Union counties region. The Nursing Home Surveyor spends an average of three days per week in nursing homes conducting inspections. Occasionally inspections are required on weekends and night shift. Although management attempts to schedule inspections within a region, the consultant needs to expect overnight stays when the nursing home is greater than 60 miles from their home-base.

Salary Range: $55,221-$96,639

Recruitment Range: $55,221-$76,084

  • Strong clinical background, including assessment, care planning and delivery of care.
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating effectively.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods; ability to finger/talk/hear/smell; ability to lift luggage (20 – 50 pounds); close visual acuity.

About Health Service Regulation

The Division of Health Service Regulation oversees medical, mental health and adult care facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails. We check to see that people receiving care in these facilities are safe and receive appropriate care. We make certain that medical buildings are built only when there is a need for them.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements – Generalist Bachelor’s degree in a health, human service, or educational related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements – Social Work Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or Bachelor’s degree, in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements – Dietetics Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or food service management from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, eligible for registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
