Description Of Work
The Application Systems Specialist II serves as the Epic Certified Beaker Analyst responsible for the implementation, support, and optimization of the Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System (LIS) across thirteen state-operated healthcare facilities. This position ensures the seamless integration and performance of laboratory workflows, middleware systems, and instrument interfaces in alignment with clinical and regulatory standards. Acting as the primary liaison between laboratory operations, IT, and Epic application teams, the role supports high-quality patient diagnostics and clinical decision-making. The Analyst applies advanced technical expertise to maintain system integrity, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance application functionality. This position requires independent judgment, collaboration across disciplines, and adherence to compliance requirements.

Salary Grade Range: $88,187.00-$154,327.00

- Implement and configure Epic Beaker LIS modules to support laboratory operations across multiple healthcare facilities.
- Maintain and optimize middleware systems and instrument interfaces to ensure accurate and efficient data exchange.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, vendors, and IT teams to support system integration and workflow alignment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and interface issues impacting laboratory performance.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, and North Carolina state laboratory regulations.
- Develop and execute validation protocols for new instruments, middleware, and system upgrades.
- Provide technical support and training to end users on Epic Beaker functionality and related systems.
- Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule to support critical system operations.
