NBME is proud to partner with Drexel University and give students the opportunity to utilize the skills they have learned in the classroom and leverage them in an educational setting.
This position is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in the field of library science.
Working alongside NBME's librarian, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to- day operations of our
library. This immersive internship will expose you to a wide range of responsibilities, allowing you
to engage with multiple aspects of the profession and enabling you to develop a diverse skill set.
By participating in various aspects of librarianship, you will gain practical insights, refine your
problem-solving abilities, and develop a comprehensive understanding of how a library operates,
especially remotely and digitally. This internship not only serves as an educational platform but
also as an invaluable experience that will help you build a solid foundation for a future career in
library science.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Providing virtual reference and research assistance to library patrons.
• Assisting in cataloging, organizing, and maintaining digital collections.
• Supporting the development of online tutorials and resources.
• Assisting with administrative duties such as data entry, record-keeping, and scheduling.
• Helping manage and curate digital resources, including e-books, databases, and online archives
REQUIREMENTS
Currently enrolled in or plan to enroll in library science or related program (see majors below):
- Business- Economics and Data Science,
- Comp. Science - Data Science, Informatics, Information Technology, Information Systems
- Education - Elementary Education, Ed., Learning, Culture, and Technology,
- Arts & Sci. - English
• Strong passion for libraries and information services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital research tools and library systems is a plus.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
