We are currently seeking a Director of Distribution, based in Goose Creek, SC, reporting to the Senior Vice President, Distribution and Transportation. The Director of Distribution spearheads and oversees distribution procedures, ensuring efficiency and smooth workflow. They will coordinate with different departments to identify and understand the distribution needs, set goals and guidelines, manage budgets, delegate tasks among managers, develop strategies to optimize operations, and report out to the Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders. They will lead and encourage the workforce to reach goals while monitoring the progress of operations. They will manage all day-to-day activities, which encompasses multiple administrative, clerical, front office, and floor duties. Additionally, the Director of Distribution leads and/or participates in the daily floor activities and supports the team in all aspects of the operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of inbound and outbound operations, inventory control and maintenance.
- Optimize operational resources while executing cost reductions and inventory controls.
- Work closely with staff to lead all initiatives that include ensuring qualified capacity, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
- Interface with key contacts outside the company, including customers, suppliers, and 3PL partners to optimize supply chain performance.
- Provide general leadership/coaching in developing and enabling capabilities to support the implementation of key systems to improve supply chain fundamentals.
- Actively manage career development of direct reports by reviewing performance and provide coaching, counseling, mentoring, and training opportunities.
- Work closely with Inventory and Merchandise Planning, Order management, EDI, to adhere to retailer requirements and to reduce chargebacks.
- Manage labor to ensure standards are met or exceeded; review and adjust planning and timeframes based on peak seasons.
- Direct managers, with focus on cost saving, cost avoidance, process improvement and productivity improvement.
- Use data to define and build KPI and metrics reporting for leadership.
- Leads strategic and tactical operations deliverables to ensure customer and quality standards are met within specifications.
- Collaborates with internal and external functional partners to ensure operations can meet customer demand.
- Works with IT and other cross functional areas to ensure capability is aligned with Marketing and Sales strategies.
Skills Required

- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Experience coordinating business unit demand and supply planning functions to support capacity planning and all order fulfillment requirements.
- Proven track record challenging status quo and implementing change management.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and functional capability with the other applications in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze financial statements.
Education & Experience
- 10 years’ experience in ECommerce Distribution Center Operations, Warehouse, Logistics and / or Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience in Inventory Control and Demand Forecasting
- WMS experience and ability to run reports and update scorecards
- Possess strong leadership skills including Team Facilitation, Training, and Motivation
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership
- Possess an analytical mindset and strong experience with Process Improvement and Implementation in a distribution environment
- Master’s degree desired but not required
