Job Purpose:
Navitas Semiconductor (Nasdaq: NVTS) is a high-growth, publicly traded semiconductor technology company seeking an experienced and skilled professional to take on the role of Manager/Director of High-Power Applications for high voltage power semiconductors used in AI data centers and renewable energy systems. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, collaborative, and understand the dynamics of a fast-growing company.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take over responsibility of system architecture description and application requirements in MVAC (10kVAC – 35kVAC) Solid State Transformers (SST) and HVDC power distribution (800VDC - 2400VDC).
- Support Navitas customers and their projects for high-power AI data center and renewable applications. Establish relationships with customers and their pre-development and act as a partner to support, identify, and define requirements and trends
- Deliver definitions of system architecture and functional blocks from application use cases for product definition; and contribute to technical content for application roadmap process
- Act as the subject matter expert on all technical matters in this area, supporting internally and externally. Support new business opportunities – bringing value to our customers through smarter and energy efficient products and systems.
- Develop demo boards, eval / test boards, or other related hardware to evaluate high-voltage power semiconductors and assist customers with design-in
- Meet with customers on-site to review application requirements identifying product solutions and product gaps for their given system needs. Be ultra-responsive to their technical, product-related questions.
- Work alongside sales and business units to drive new account opportunities and product strategies. Establish and maintain relationships with business unit stakeholders worldwide and customer decision makers
- Answer technical questions and support solutions
- Support and find resolution to customer challenges from component selection/simulation/PCB design/magnetics/thermals/control/EMI/EMC/regulatory/hardware performance.
- Support in funding and other cooperative external projects
- Travel 10-30% of the time as required

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge and proven systems design, testing, tuning, debugging and component selection experience with high-voltage (650V – 1200V) and ultra high-voltage (1700V – 10000V) power semiconductors in high-power (100kW ) AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters
- Proven expertise with three-phase power converter topologies like grid-tied inverters (DC-AC), grid-tied power-factor correction (AC-DC), isolated DC-DC (LLC, PSFB) etc.
- Intimate system and market knowledge in Energy Storage/Solar/Data-Center applications involving DC micro-grids and solid-state transformers (SST)
- Strong experience in designing and validating proof of concept hardware in the lab, including demo boards, eval / test boards, and other hardware required to assist customers with design-in of high voltage power semiconductors
- Strong familiarity with power semiconductors including performance, robustness and reliability metrics. Experience with SiC / GaN semiconductors is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of gate driver design and performance in system design
- Ability to analyze and simulate concepts on PLECS / SIMETRIX / LTSPICE
- Strong familiarity with how to compare systems solutions, and make component selections given application requirements
- Solid understanding of power device packaging considerations and tradeoffs between discrete/module/other and understanding of thermal system design criteria
- Ability to gauge, analyze, and become an expert regarding customer’s technical requirements
- Ability to develop and solidify strong cooperative relationships with customers
- Ability to drive timely and effective resolutions to customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Maintains accountability for actions (ownership of work)
- Proven team leadership and management skills
Requirements:
Basic
- BS. in electrical engineering
- Power electronics systems design background
- 8 years of relevant power conversion experience, if Director title
- 5 years of relevant power conversion experience, if Manager title
- 3 years of team management experience
Preferred
- MS in electrical engineering specializing in power electronics
- 10 years of high-power conversion experience, ideally focused around 100kW and 1kV
- 5 years management experience as a team leader and ability to identify, attract and retain talents
