ROLE: Manages accounting functions and preparation of reports and statistics reflecting earnings, profits, cash balances, and other financial results. Formulates and administers approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial operating reports accurately reflect the conditions of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations. Supervises the daily functions of the accounting department coaching and developing accounting team.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
· Responsible for the GLs and reconciliations to ensure balancing is completed. Approves and prepares journal entries.
· Responsible for end of month reports and closing books.
· Responsible to prepare monthly Board Reports.
· Responsible for Quarterly Call Reports.
· Responsible for leading direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and coaches to performance and meeting deadlines.
· Provides continuous supervision to the maintenance of the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, as well as the accounting aspects of all systems. Works with various departments on the design and implementation of procedural changes.
· Supervises and assists when necessary the electronic funds transfer operations of the company, including Fed-Line, ACH, Wires, RDC and electronic reporting to the Federal Reserve.
· Responsible for compliance with regulations and operating guidelines for these activities.
· Oversees and completes all projects as assigned. Keeps leadership apprised of all critical issues.
· Reviews the status of cash account reconciliations weekly, balance sheet reconciliations monthly and directs research/corrections as necessary.
· Ensures that proper accounting procedures are followed in the daily proof function and other accounting activities. Develop staff by providing information, education and experiential growth opportunities.

· Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control
· Other duties as deemed necessary by manager.
EXPERIENCE:
· 3 years’ direct accounting experience
· 2 years’ GL and reconciliation experience
· 1 year management experience
· Comprehensive GAAP knowledge
· Credit Union or Financial Institution experience preferred
EDUCATION:
· High School diploma or equivalent is required.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar field preferred

· Sitting; walking; bending; squatting; kneeling; pushing/pulling; reaching; twisting; frequent lifting of less than 10 lbs.; occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
