About the Position
We are seeking an experienced GIS Analyst III to serve as the senior geospatial expert supporting national trust-land mapping and modernization initiatives. This role leads advanced GIS projects, enhances spatial workflows, and develops high-impact applications that inform decision-making for stakeholders across a federal land-management mission space.
This is a key leadership position that serves as the primary liaison between internal management, federal partners, and multidisciplinary technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage GIS projects, serving as the primary point of contact between project leadership and federal stakeholders.
- Interpret and map complex legal land descriptions, including parcels, tracts, rights-of-way, leases, and land encumbrances.
- Perform advanced GIS and cartographic analysis using ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Parcel Fabric.
- Migrate and maintain Land Area Code (LAC) data in an enterprise parcel fabric environment.
- Develop geospatial dashboards and applications that provide real-time insight into program operations.
- Create scripts and automation tools to improve geospatial workflows and data integrity.
- Produce BIA-compliant metadata and ensure all datasets meet federal data standards.
- Build and maintain mapping templates, SOPs, and documentation to support consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with GIS specialists, program analysts, physical scientists, and cross-functional partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5 years of progressive GIS experience, including advanced spatial analysis and enterprise data management.
- Strong understanding of legal land descriptions, land records, rights-of-way, and leases.
- Expert-level proficiency with the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Parcel Fabric).
- Experience developing geospatial dashboards (ArcGIS Dashboard, Experience Builder, or equivalent).
- Proficiency scripting in Python/ArcPy or similar automation environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong documentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with federal agencies, land-management programs, or Tribal governments.
- Familiarity with TAAMS data, Smartsheet, and AWS-hosted geospatial environments.
- Experience building automated workflows for parcel fabric operations.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule for candidates in the Denver metro area; remote work available for approved locations.
- Standard Monday–Friday work week; occasional extended hours with prior approval.
- All equipment required for remote work is provided.
Background Requirements
- Must pass a federal background check.
- Must complete mandatory annual IT security training.
- No DWI convictions within the past 10 years; no crimes involving children.
