Summary

You will serve as the command safety program manager for the Officer In Charge of Construction at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (OICC PSNS) for the execution of the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP) to include utility, waterfront, and major industrial facilities and infrastructure construction.

Duties

You will conduct evaluations of safety programs to address program deficiencies.You will manage programs to protect personnel and property from natural or manmade mishaps or disasters that would adversely affect the business unit and organizational goals.You will evaluate work performance to identify personnel training needs and career development.You will Identify developmental and training needs of employees to maintain staff knowledge of procedures and regulations.You will analyze mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements to prepare written reports.You will investigate mishaps to minimize or eliminate hazardous working conditions.You will enforce safety and occupational health standards according to federal Occupational and Safety Health (OSHA), Department of Defense (DoD), and other installation policy and directives.You will develop plans for safety and occupational health activities.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; 2) Developing and implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses; 3) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; and 4) Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects.
