Duties

  • You will utilize computer hardware and software systems to compose or type a variety of naval and business letters, memoranda, directives, statistical and narrative reports, endorsements, messages and forms.
  • You will produce recurring reports utilizing Microsoft Office software for database applications for office management, file management and control, electronic mail communications, spreadsheets and calendars.
  • You will review proposed and existing instructions, notices, regulations, and directives for conformance to style guides, for clarity, to avoid duplication or conflict with other issuances, and to recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • You will provide technical and administrative support in all areas of personnel.
  • You will ensure that all documents and information required to provide personnel or pay support are relayed to the appropriate supporting organization via the current authorized process and per applicable policies governing timeliness standards.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Using strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with military and civilian personnel at all levels; 2) Using Microsoft Office Suite to generate documents, manage databases, spreadsheets, and calendars; 3) Processing Navy directives, correspondence, awards, and evaluations; AND 4) Handling sensitive information and understanding sensitive information policies, such as Personally Identified Information (PII), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
