Position Duties/Responsibilities
- You will review and provide input to Navy Propulsion System and Engine Life Management Plans (PSMP, ELMP) as well as other Research and Development and Science and Technology long range planning documents.
- You will identify and forecast propulsion flow modeling related technology needs to positively impact new/up rated and/or legacy propulsion systems related to integration into aircraft and test facilities.
- You will evaluate contractor proposals (e.g. new, up-rated, improved reliability/durability) for propulsion system flow design changes and impacts; both steady and dynamic flow design changes and impacts.
- You will monitor current and advanced Propulsion System Development Programs and investigate performance and durability shortfalls that may result from flow design deficiencies.
- You will serve as a cross-platform expert on flow design issues and tools, develop and validate prediction tools, and leverage that knowledge to technically manage specific programs more efficiently and effectively.
- You will coordinate with IPT Teams in the review of “breakout” data packages, establishing test requirements and assessment / inspection of test hardware set-up.
- You will plan, develop, technically direct and manage the CFD tool suite, which is available for government use, and develop new features and capabilities by major RDTE programs for the benefit of current and future propulsion systems.
- You will coordinate the technical/financial aspects of programs with other services and government agencies to investigate the potential of establishing joint service programs so as to avoid duplication of effort.
