What are the responsibilities and job description for the Greenskeeper position at Naval Academy Athletic Association?
Reports To: Golf course superintendent and assistant superintendents
Working Hours: As required. Seasonal. Must be able to work weekends and early mornings.
Status: Non-Exempt
Duties: Works directly with the golf course superintendent and assistant superintendents to maintain all turfgrass and ornamental areas on the golf course in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities
Mowing areas of turf grass, including greens, tees, fairways, and rough.
Operate equipment in a safe and productive manner daily.
Clean all equipment after use and return to storage area.
Report all equipment problems to equipment manager or assistant superintendents.
Must be able to operate small power equipment, such as backpack blowers and string trimmers.
Responsible for keeping shop areas clean and organized.
Ability to operate golf carts in a safe manner.
Must be open to learn new skills in golf course management.
Other Requirements
Understand the basic game of golf to ensure he/she does not interfere with golfers.
Must work in all weather conditions, such as rain, snow, heat, and cold.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
Possess the ability to work alone or in a group.
Must be able to follow instructions or directions from supervisors
May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. May need to lift up to 85 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
